Chris Thomas

Chris contributes at both strategic and operational levels of HR management. He specialises in bringing clarity and understanding to the relationship between what organisations want and what the implications are for their people. He is able to bring a comprehensive understanding of what drives organisational performance and strong change management expertise to his work with Marshall-James.

Chris began his professional career in financial services, working for 30 years for the Royal & Sun Alliance Group, in various roles, until in 2003 he was part of the management buyout team who bought the Group’s Healthcare and Assistance Division. As HR Director of the new FirstAssist Group, Chris worked for four years playing a key role in transforming the organisation, establishing its new HR strategy and re-aligning its HR policies. Chris left FirstAssist in 2007 having played a central role in its eventual demerger.

Since 2007 Chris has worked with numerous organisations in the public and private sectors where his role has ranged from delivering advice through to delivering complex programmes. He has been able to deliver value across various disciplines which include communication and engagement strategies, management development programmes, discipline and grievance issues and business turnaround projects. Chris’s extensive experience is complemented by his professional qualifications. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute and a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development.
